Catherine Magee

Catherine Magee received her MS in objects conservation from the Winterthur/University of Delaware, Program in Art Conservation.  She has worked in Asia, Central America, the Mediterranean Basin and North Africa as an Archaeological Conservator on both terrestrial and marine sites. She lived in Washington, DC for 15 years working at the Smithsonian Institution and in her own conservation business. Currently Catherine is working on her doctoral dissertation exploring the reciprocal relationship between cultural heritage preservation and tourism.  She is a PhD student in the Department of Geography at the University of Nevada, Reno where her main research interests are local and native groups reclaiming authority over their cultural heritage landscape from tourist use, media in production of culture heritage sites, and analysis of cultural heritage landscapes.
