Pamela Hatchfield is the Robert P. and Carol T. Henderson Head of Objects Conservation at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She received her Master’s degree in Art History and Certificate in Conservation from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, with an advanced level internship at the Harvard University Art Museums. She has volunteered and worked in conservation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Harvard University Art Museums, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the Grenada National Museum in the West Indies. She has also served as site conservator on several expeditions in Egypt. She was a founding contributor to CAMEO, the Conservation and Art Materials Database, and participated in Heritage Preservation’s Save Outdoor Sculpture! Pilot Project. Pam has served as grant reviewer for the IMLS, NEA, Kress, Getty Conservation Institute and FAIC. She is presently a conservation consultant to Villa La Pietra, NYU, Florence, and in 2006-7, was awarded the Booth Family Rome Prize in Conservation and Historic Preservation to examine the conservation of contemporary art installed within historic structures. Pam is a Fellow of the AIC and the IIC, and has served AIC as Chair and Program Chair of the Objects Specialty Group, 1990-1992; Board Director for Public Information 1992-1995; Publications Committee 1999-2004 (Chair 2003-2004); Appeals Committee 2004-present (Chair 2007-present).
