Pierrette Squires is the Conservator for Bolton Library and Museum Service. She received a BSc in Geography & Archaeology from the University of Leicester in 2001, a module in conservation during this degree inspired further conservation training. UCL’s three year conservation MA &MSc programme at the Institute of Archaeology followed including a year with Oxford University Museums the Pitt Rivers and the Ashmolean. Pierrette has always been interested in ethical practise and sustainability, originally specialising in the ethical care of human remains, whilst at the Pitt Rivers she contributed to Laura Peers work for the DCMS White Paper on the Care of Human Remains._x000D_

After graduating from UCL in 2003 Pierrette worked a short paid internship at the Malta Centre for Restoration returning to the UK to continue working for Mencap (a mental health charity) for whom she had worked throughout her master’s degrees. She took up the post of Conservation Technician at Bolton Museum in 2004. Staying within Bolton Library & Museum Service she was appointed to post of Conservator in 2006. In 2010 Pierrette achieved professional accreditation through ICON; in the same year passion for sustainability lead her to join the Green Museum Leadership Programme run by Rachel Madan, funded by Renaissance. Besides her full time post at Bolton she has carried out freelance work, is an accreditation mentor for ICON, an intern supervisor, actively involved with the Green Museums Group and runs the NW Conservators Group.
