Anne Battram

Biltmore Estate
Upholstery Conservator
Asheville, NC
Having had her own upholstery business in Canada for five years and, never intending to ever do upholstery again, Anne closed her shop to attend the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. There she obtained an Honor’s Art History Degree and then trained as an object’s conservator at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Upon finishing graduate school, however, she was seduced back into the world of upholstery by a Getty internship in conservation with the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities in Boston, now known as Historic New England.

Eventually, the Biltmore Company convinced her to move to Asheville, North Carolina to tackle the many unique upholstery projects that this large house presents. Sixteen years and many yards of fabric later, Anne and her husband continue to live happily ever after in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.
