In addition to being a Professional Associate of the AIC, Chistopher Augerson is accredited as a conservator in the UK, France and Belgium. He has conducted conservation projects for private clients and public institutions such as English Heritage, The National Trust for Scotland, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and the Palace of Versailles.

Mr. Augerson received a bachelor’s degree with majors in both chemistry and visual arts from Bowdoin College in 1986. He worked there briefly as a research assistant in infrared spectroscopy and apprenticed in art conservation before completing an M.A. in art conservation from the State University College at Buffalo (1992). He specialized in the conservation of polychrome sculpture through fellowships at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (1992-1993), the Saint Louis Art Museum (1994-1995), and the Belgian Royal Institute of Artistic Heritage (IRPA/KIK, 1996-1997). From 1997 to 2006, Mr. Augerson worked as Conservator of Paint and Gilding of Carriages at the Coach Museum of the Palace of Versailles (France). Since 1992, he has also been proprietor of Augerson Art Conservation Services, currently based in New York State. In 2006 he opened a European branch of the business in Scotland.
