As a senior conservator at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Hubert Baija is responsible for the conservation of 7000 antique picture frames. He studied at the University of Amsterdam and at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. Hubert teaches gilding conservation, historical technology and frame history at the University of Amsterdam, at the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies, and other venues. He published & presented on conservation, historical techniques and art history. He served as co-chair of the  Wood, Furniture and Lacquer working group of ICOM-CC, as an external examiner for MA and PhD students and as a peer reviewer for professional publications.
