Ministry of Culture
Collection Manager
Santiago, RM, Chile
I started to work as a collection manager in 2002 and my
responsibilities were related to collection management and educational
training. I worked with a contemporary Chilean art collection that
belongs to the Ministry of Culture. It includes 113 artworks
(sculptures, paintings, video installation, engravings, photos), which I
exhibited in different cities in Chile. I was physically installing and
taking down the shows. I had to deal with different landscapes and
climates in the north and in the south of Chile, divergent institutions,
peoples and resources. Also, I designed workshops, wrote publications and
conducted seminars. In addition, I wrote a text and I published a catalogue in 2009 that included images of the collection and the exhibition places where the artworks were exhibited. Today, I am still working at the Ministry of Culture.
I got a Fulbright scholarship to study a MA in Museum Studies at New YorK University from 2009 to 2011.I have completed an internship at the Public Programming and Education Department of The 9/11 Memorial and Museum, from September 21, 2010 to January 19, 2011, under the supervision of Cliff Chanin, Acting Director of Education. I have worked on several projects. At the beginning, I was researching on museum database to identify and naming two hundred and thirty five photographs that would be included in an exhibition that would be allocated in Madrid, Spain. Likewise, I translated the image’s information to Spanish. In addition, I completed 9/11 victim profiles that to include in the museum intranet. Also, I have translated several official documents to outreach the Spanish community affected by the terrorist attack. Moreover, I translated museum materials such as adult guide, brochure and flyers.
